Special thanks go to all contributors to our raffle and to David Harrar at Larmon Photo, who not only donated to the raffle, but provided 200 picture frames so that all in attendance were able to take home group photos from the bowling party. Thanks also to HOT HOT HOT Entertainment, who generously sent DJ Antwann, and lots of great music that kept our bowlers moving to the beat.

Food served at the event was donated by several local establishments including: Chili’s, Whole Foods Market, WaWa, Lee’s Hoagies and Applebee’s.

The fundraiser is one of two major events that help support JDN’s mission of providing tuition assistance so that children in need can receive quality early education and child care. The second fundraiser, Jenkintown Day Nursery Golf Outing, is set for May 3, 2010 at Commonwealth Country Club.

Fun in the Sun

Children, parents and staff members had a grand time when they gathered for outdoor games and a good old-fashioned barbecue at Alverthorpe Park on JDN’s annual Fun Day.

Children seemed unfazed by the summer heat as they lined up for a turn on the moon bounce. Plenty of other activities beckoned on Alverthorpe’s broad, grassy field, and the children took full advantage of the opportunities. There were beach balls, a bean-bag toss, wading pools, crawl-through tunnels and more. A magician regaled the children with his tricks, stories and some silly conversations with a puppet that popped up from his hat.

Volunteers from Whole Foods Market, Jenkintown, joined staff members and board members to grill up hot dogs and burgers and serve fresh fruit donated by the store.
