Fees
Our Fees
Our fees are based on family size and income, and we participate in the Pennsylvania subsidized child care program. (See link just below.) JDN has a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors who raise the funds that keep our program affordable to all families.
Subsidized Child Care
Jenkintown Day Nursery participates in the Pennsylvania subsidized child care program, Child Care Information Services (CCIS). Parents need to apply through the CCIS office, based on their home address. For more information on the subsidy program, go to: http://www.dpw.state.pa.us/ServicesPrograms/ChildCareEarlyEd/
Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Program
In the 2007-08 school year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education established a new program, Pre-K Counts, to financially assist 11,000 children across the state to attend high quality early learning programs. Eligibility is based on children coming from lower income families or having cultural, language or special needs which might put them at risk of not succeeding in school. Programs were selected because they provide qualified teachers and assistant teachers, small class size, a curriculum that is aligned with the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, regular assessment of the children’s progress and reporting of the program’s performance. Jenkintown Day Nursery was selected as one of the original organizations to participate in Pre-K Counts and was awarded 20 slots for these qualified children. If your child may be eligible, contact our social worker for an application form. This program is totally dependent on financing through the state and is not definite until the governor’s budget is passed every July.
Keystone STARS
The Pennsylvania Keystone STARS Program promotes quality early learning. STAR levels are based on the quality of the program. Programs can earn from 1 to 4 STARS as they achieve higher quality, with 4 STARS as the highest rating. STAR ratings need to be achieved annually to assure that the quality level has been maintained. STAR levels are based on quality standards in four key areas: staff education, the learning environment, leadership and management, and family and community partnerships. Jenkintown Day Nursery was one of the first centers to achieve STAR 4 status and has maintained this level of quality since. Fun in the Sun
Children, parents and staff members had a grand time when they gathered for outdoor games and a good old-fashioned barbecue at Alverthorpe Park on JDN’s annual Fun Day.
Children seemed unfazed by the summer heat as they lined up for a turn on the moon bounce. Plenty of other activities beckoned on Alverthorpe’s broad, grassy field, and the children took full advantage of the opportunities. There were beach balls, a bean-bag toss, wading pools, crawl-through tunnels and more. A magician regaled the children with his tricks, stories and some silly conversations with a puppet that popped up from his hat.
Volunteers from Whole Foods Market, Jenkintown, joined staff members and board members to grill up hot dogs and burgers and serve fresh fruit donated by the store.
